The bookmark saga…

13 10 2014

I was back over in Switzerland last week.

You may remember my exploits from my last trip.

Thankfully, this time around was a lot more straightforward and less embarrassing.

After a full day of meetings, I found myself back at the airport waiting for an 8.30pm flight.

Unfortunately due to bad weather my flight was delayed by 90 minutes.

I had just started a new book so although not ideal, it was a good excuse to carry on reading without adding to the chorus of “TUTS” from all around me.

When we eventually boarded and took off, I was knackered.

I put the book into the netted compartment in the seat in front of me and zoned out with some Swiss chocolate.

The flight was uneventful, the landing was smooth and next thing I knew I was in a cab homeward bound.

Then I remembered my book.

Still in the netted compartment.

But what annoyed me more about my own forgetfulness was that it contained a bookmark.

Not just any old bookmark, but a gift from Wifey on our third (leather) anniversary.

Double arse.

So now begins a new journey.

Finding the book and more importantly the bookmark.

The Swiss Airlines Facebook was a bad start.

The number they gave me sent me to baggage tracking.

Baggage tracking sent me to left luggage.

Left luggage passed me on to someone who I think just picked up the phone by mistake.

Dead end.

Some friends who replied to my comment on the Swiss Airlines page have also been guided to lost and found.

Even though they haven’t lost anything.

So it’s not looking good so far.

However, I’ve just received an email that might offer a glimmer of hope saying they will keep an eye out.

I’ll write an update if I find anything else out, keep your fingers crossed.

The Chip Shop Awards…

8 08 2012

There are plenty of ways to kill creativity.

“Let’s get back to reality.”

“I’m not saying you’re wrong but…”

“I know the Client and they won’t like that.”

“I know I’m not an art director but….”

In my industry, these are phrases a creative department really don’t want to hear.

Especially coming from someone like me who sits on the wrong side of the creative fence.

I’m sure plenty of great ideas have died because of the subjectivity of a few people.

Saying that, some well and truly do not deserve to see the light of day.

Which is why I love the Chip Shop Awards.

For those of you who don’t know these awards:

The Chip Shop Awards is about fostering and recognising creativity with no boundaries and no rules. It’s an international creative awards, open to anyone with great ideas.”

It’s a lot of fun and there are some great pieces of work there, most of which will never see the light of day.

They’ve recently run a one-off award in light of the Olympics.

The Fauxlympics.

It’s all about helping out LOCOG by ruling on what will and will not be allowed in terms of advertising during the Olympics.

I had an idea and the creative in charge very kindly humoured me and it’s been entered:

Vote for me!

If you happen to be on facebook and fancy adding your vote for my entry, click here.

If you don’t, I’ll lose.

And I’m a bad loser.

But take a look none the less.

Thar be genius in them there hills.

Like me, like my orange elephant…

“Capture amazing food lookalikes”

That’s the Nokia Amazing Collective mission and I’ve put a couple of photos up on facebook already.

I admit, the Nandos chicken and chips face didn’t quite work out as expected.

But I like my orange elephant complete with pith tusks.

Stop taking the pith.

There was a weekend update from the Amazing Collective.

They have introduced a medal table so you get:

  • a bronze medal for completing the mission
  • a silver medal for achieving 10 likes
  • a gold medal for having one of your images featured on their facebook page

Somehow I’m top of the table at the moment with one bronze and two golds!

So guess what I’m going to ask next.

When you see the images pop up on facebook, hit like!

I want to stay at the top.

My Nandos chicken and chips man has made the facebook page.

Poor orange elephant 😦

Hello scary opinionated world…

15 11 2011

Well I’ve decided to take the plunge and connect my Facebook account to my blog.

Feel free to sign up if you want updates when I post.

Would be nice to go beyond the two current subscribers.

One of them is me.
